Covid-19 safety policy and procedures updated September 2021

During  to the Covid -19 pandemic, Valentine School of Dance has adhered to government guidelines to keep everyone safe and prevent the risk of infection. The rules are now updated and we are allowed to make changes

The school has a completed comprehensive risk assessment and view the risk assessments of the halls we use. I have been closely following all the guidelines issued by the government for out of school settings. The last update on this publication was 27th August and recommends the following Instructions. I have also attended several webinars by health and safety experts organised by the Dance Teachers Associations I am a member of. All the following information is for you to keep your children safe and prevent infection. Thank you for your support and cooperation. We can implement our own safety requirements as a provider, so I will be keeping up most of the procedures from last term. I want to keep us open!

Bubbles :Government are no longer recommending that it is necessary to keep children in consistent groups (‘bubbles’). This means that bubbles will not need to be used for any summer provision or from the autumn term. However all our classes are in small groups anyway. I will make sure contingency plans (outbreak management plans) cover the possibility that in some local areas it may become necessary to reintroduce ‘bubbles’ for a temporary period, to reduce any mixing between class groups.

Self-isolation Individuals are not required to self-isolate if they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, and any of the following apply: They are fully vaccinated or they are below the age of 18 years and 6 months. However I would prefer you not to attend and ask you to take a pcr test before returning to class. I can stream the class for you.

You definitely must not attend classes if you show any symptoms of Covid-19

Face Coverings It is no longer a requirement to wear face coverings, however it is recommended in crowded spaces and when meeting people you do not normally meet. I would therefore ask parents to wear face coverings if entering the hall areas. Pupils do not need to wear face coverings.

Parental Attendance It is no longer a requirement that parents stay away from out of school settings, but to be safe I would ask that we maintain dropping off and collecting for the time being if possible, as obviously the less people mixing reduces the risk of infection, especially as a spike is predicted for this term. Parents of very young or pupils who hare nervous or additional needs are excepted.

Control measures I am required to keep in place

1.    Ensure good hygiene for everyone

2.    Maintain appropriate cleaning regimes, using standard products such as detergents

3.    Keep occupied spaces well ventilated

4.    Follow public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of COVID-19

Payment All parents will be invoiced the term’s bill by email. Please continue to make payments online where at all possible, or failing that you may pay cash or cheque in a sealed envelope given to your child to hand to me. I prefer not to take from parents at the hall.
