Risk Assessment for The Valentine School of Dance COVID-19
During to the Covid -19 pandemic, Valentine School of Dance has adhered to government guidelines to keep everyone safe and prevent the risk of infection. The rules are now updated and we are allowed to make changes
The school has a completed comprehensive risk assessment and view the risk assessments of the halls we use. I have been closely following all the guidelines issued by the government for out of school settings. The last update on this publication was 27th August and recommends the following Instructions. I have also attended several webinars by health and safety experts organised by the Dance Teachers Associations I am a member of. All the following information is for you to keep your children safe and prevent infection. Thank you for your support and cooperation. We can implement our own safety requirements as a provider, so I will be implementing the following for our show.
Bubbles : Government are no longer recommending that it is necessary to keep children in consistent groups (‘bubbles’). However all our classes are in small groups any way. And dressing rooms will be allocated to avoid any mixing between class groups.
Self-isolation Individuals are no longer required by law to self-isolate if they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, However I ask you not to attend any rehearsals or classes for 10 days and ask you to have a negative pcr test before returning to class. I can stream the rehearsals for you. You definitely must not attend the rehearsals or performances if you show any symptoms of Covid-19 yourself, or a positive test.
Face Coverings It is no longer a requirement to wear face coverings, however it is recommended in crowded spaces and when meeting people you do not normally meet. I would therefore ask parents to wear face coverings in the theatre. Pupils do not need to wear face coverings, however please wear them if you can if sitting in groups for any length of time, eg waiting around at rehearsals.
Essex University Theatre have their own Covid management policy and is implementing a limited total capacity in the auditorium and backstage area including children, crew, chaperones and audience of 150 which we must stick to.
Parental Attendance It is no longer a requirement that parents stay away from out of school settings, but to be safe we will maintain dropping off and collecting for the rehearsals and show, as obviously the less people mixing reduces the risk of infection. Parents of very young or pupils who are nervous or additional needs are excepted.
Control measures I am required to keep in place
1. Ensure good hygiene for everyone. Provide hand gel and encourage hand washing.
2. Maintain appropriate cleaning regimes to touch surfaces, using standard products such as detergents
3. Keep dressing rooms and occupied spaces well ventilated
4. Follow public health advice on testing, self-isolation and managing confirmed cases of COVID-19
1. Ask everyone to take a PCR test before attending the theatre rehearsals and show.
2. Pupils parents to do their own child’s hair and make up at home, so no sharing make up items.
(Or older pupils to do their own at the theatre)
3. Implement a one way system wherever possible
4. Encourage use of masks where possible.
